Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Private Investigator?
PI, Private Detective, Private Investigator or Private Eye — is pretty much the same thing. It will depend on what the individual states licensing laws are. There are companies, and the general public, who have reason to hire someone that is qualified to undertake an investigation. Many Private Investigators are former police officers, detectives, or military.
Who would need a Private Investigator?
You might be surprised. Private parties, Attorney’s, large and small companies and corporations, insurance companies, and workman’s comp to name just a few. Most likely, entities not associated with the government or police.
Does a Private Investigator have to be licensed?
Yes. In the State of Illinois, the licensing requirements are rigorous, to say the least. You can go to the Illinois State website which is Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR), where you can see all of the State requirements for licensing. You can also look up a person or company’s licensing details and even file a complaint if necessary.
How much does it cost to hire a Private Investigator?
In most cases, private investigators will charge an hourly rate. It depends on the job, the amount of estimated time to complete the task, and other factors. Give us a call and we’ll tailor the costs to your specific needs.
